What is UX design? And what does the UX designer actually do? It is a difficult question to answer because you are going to get 5 different answers from 5 different people. UX obviously stands for User eXperiance. User experience referred to, what? When? Why? Where? How? Who?. After going through all these questions about a product, we can get an idea that UX design is pretty much everything affects to user’s interaction with that product. As you can imagine UX designer is, someone who designs these interactions and constantly ask tons of questions. (Such as what are you thinking?, why did that confuse you? , where would you click next? And etc.) If you are someone who naturally questioning things UX designs could be a great career for you because answers to these questions shape the product’s design.
“User experience” encompasses all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products. The first requirement for an exemplary user experience is to meet the exact needs of the customer, without fuss or bother. Next comes simplicity and elegance that produce products that are a joy to own, a joy to use. True user experience goes far beyond giving customers what they say they want, or providing checklist features. In order to achieve high-quality user experience in a company’s offerings there must be a seamless merging of the services of multiple disciplines, including engineering, marketing, graphical and industrial design, and interface design.
UX not all about users’ needs but also the business needs. When you have a product which people love but doesn’t help for business, the business runs down. Then it is not a product, it becomes a side project. The UX designer identifies 2 overlapped sets as what business needs and what user needs. UX designer solves this by using lots of questions while user is centered to design process. It includes design, build, measure and launch .We use various tools and techniques to take the user’s needs into account at every stage of the product lifecycle. The process is user centered and the design process, tests user’s needs to the process, at the every step of the life cycle. As we talk about products, these techniques are used in mobile apps, Desktop apps and even at physical devices.
Why we should care about UX? There are 4 main reasons to why UX matters and we should learn more about it. The very first point is that we are already doing these kinds of things without awareness. If you know how you did it, it’s pretty much important. Second thing is user-centered design, is a process and it is typically scientific. It means use scientific method to observe, analyze, measure and apply them in human behavior. A good product is not only art, done by an artistic genius or a good designer but the science matters. Third thing; UX is not hard. Anyone who knows basics can do UX design. Especially it is not hard for people those who are from technical background. Actually this is very straight forward and discuss about the user testing, card sorting, scenarios and wireframes. The fourth reason is what we should care about UX? Challenging, Rewarding, pays well, low barrier of entry are the good news from UX. These things are fun and fascinating. A career as a UX designer is interesting, challenging, rewarding and it pays well and has a low barrier to enter.
Some people say they feel uncomfortable when calling them as a designer because they know they are not with color palates and tough faces. But the UX design is the design behind the visuals. Visual design is one small part of it. There are good UX designers aren’t great at visual design but really good at other areas that are important. There are terms like information architecture, user interface designer and usability architect. These can consider as UX professionals. May be they can specialized in marketing, technology, user research, social media and customer support background. As a customer supporter, their rolls ask tons of questions and acquire scientific process to do the design behind the visuals.
